Paul Newman....never forgotten week 4

A Hollywood legend died this past Friday at age 83 of cancer, but his acting skills and charm will live on forever through his movies. This came from BBC and CNN news today and was by far the most depressing news of the day. This amazing actor has been nominated for 10 Oscars during his lifetime and actually won the actor trophy in 1987 for The Color Of Money. He has also appeared in several other films as well that have won him recognition such as Road to Perdition, The Sting and The Hustler.

After researching and finding several articles relating to his death, I found an interesting tidbit of information about Paul Newman. Did anyone know that he founded and supported the Hole in the Wall Gang? Yes, it sounds like a fairly odd organization, but this group is the world’s largest family of camps serving children with serious illnesses. Paul Newman made this organization part of his living legacy and he is known around the world for his commitment to the welfare of seriously ill children. Wow! That’s pretty incredible and can we say awesome PR!! He should be an inspiration to most celebrities. I would think that most well known individuals would want to leave this world knowing that millions and billions of people held a great deal of respect for you. Paul Newman is a great example of what most celebrities should be doing right now. Movie stars, athletes, singers, bands, etc. should all create good PR for themselves by acting in selfless ways. I mean most of them have the money and power to do so. I’m not saying that Paul Newman is all-knowing and the best example, because I’m sure several individuals have done similar charity work and so forth, but not all of them have. For example Britney Spears is an example; she is loaded and what does she do with her money? Spends it on what I can only assume are materialistic things and I’m sure much more items that I don’t want to know about. That’s what fires me up. I feel that individuals like her should be creating good PR for themselves because they have the ability to do so. Therefore, in my opinion Paul Newman was a man we will remember for his altruistic behavior and amazing talent. Great PR Paul Newman! We will never forget you.

Paul Newman is one of my favorite actors and people of all time. His work off the screen is rivaled by few. On the screen, he rocked it. "Cool Hand Luke" is my favorite classic by far. "The Color of Money" brought out a different side of Paul Newman. "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" looked like he had a lot of fun making. If you havent seen those, you should. Blog it up!
